Hotel Bristol at Zermatt

We stayed 3 nights at this hotel, its about 7-8mins walk from the Zermatt train station. The property is located along the Vispa river offering picturesque views of the St. Mauritius church and the Matterhorn peak from the guest rooms.

Matterhorn facing rooms

Check in was smooth and we got room no.502 located on the 5th floor, which is the top of the hotel. The hotel has an elevator so it was no problem for us. Our Double room with Matterhorn view was spacious with a nice walk-in wardrobe area offering loads of storage space. In-room wifi was good and stable.

Matterhorn facing rooms all have balconies furnished with sun umbrellas, tables and chairs for guests who wish to hang out with a cuppa while taking in the scenery.

Bathroom was clean and spacious too.

Breakfast is served at the breakfast room located at the Ground floor (7-10am daily). A rather extensive buffet spread completed with a DIY eggs & pancake station.

Very sweet watermelons!

I made my own pancakes! Quite easy to do with the ready batter and they tasted pretty good too. Some of their breakfast rolls were yummy as well.

The lobby with reception counter and nice cozy lounging area and a bar. Maps and brochures can be found at the entrance. Complimentary internet corner is located at the basement. This hotel is pets friendly too.

There are other amenities located at the basement which we didn't explore, a wellness center and bowling alley are listed on the hotel's website. This hotel also adopts a 11pm lock up policy. Guests can access the main door using their room cards.

Zermatt is a really small town and one could literally walk to everywhere on foot. Two major supermarkets, COOP & Migros, can be found in the town center. There is also a double storey McDonald's that opens till 11pm daily.

Hotel Rössli at Unterseen, Interlaken

We stayed 4 nights at Hotel Rössli, a quaint family run B&B style accommodation located just 5mins walk from the Interlaken West train station.

Situated in the quieter corner of Unterseen old town, off the main tourist area in Interlaken, Hotel Rössli is also very near to Supermarkets such as COOP and Migros (near Interlaken West station). We always get our essentials from this COOP that is just 2mins away across the street from Hotel Rössli.

View of COOP at the end of the street from the hotel

Other amenities nearby includes Bank, Pharmacy, restaurants all within walking distance in this non touristy old town.

We were allocated a room on the 2nd floor (Singaporean's 3rd floor), do request for a lower level room if you have lotsa baggage as the hotel does not have an elevator. This was our Double Room with ensuite bathroom (room 26).

View of old town and mountain from our room

Room was very clean, everything was working fine, the TV has a few english channels if you do watch TV while on vacation. Free Wifi is included in the room rate, login details are given at check in. Internet access is per device basis, so do request for one login for every device you owned (cell phone, tablets, laptops etc.). Signal level and speed was very good.

The reception is at the Ground floor (Singaporean's 1st floor), with an interesting room/main door key board.

When you are heading out, unplug the main door key and plug in the room key on this board. This is to ensure that you have access to the hotel's main entrance even after they lock up at 11pm at night. When you're in, unplug the room key and plug in the main door key. They'll do a demo so you get the idea how it works, pretty interesting concept actually.

They have a Living room and library area where you can hang out or have a drink at the bar. A kitchen where you can use the oven and microwave, and a laundry where you can use the washer and dryer at an extra cost.

Maps and travel info are available at the entrance. At check in, the hotel will give their guests a tourist card that offers some discounts on activities and stuffs, which we didn't use.

Breakfast is served every morning from 7-10am at the Breakfast room (Saal room). The spread includes breads, ham, cheese, eggs, fruits, yogurt, cereals and juices, buffet style. The replenishment was very prompt.

Daily freshly brewed tea/coffee
