Lunch at Jubilee Coffee House & Bar

Friends on social media shared a blog post on ulu restaurants worth travelling for, and this gem caught my eyes. Located in the extreme North-East (near to Changi village) on the quiet Netheravon road, is this charming restaurant converted from a 1960s bungalow house. I picked this place for hubby's birthday lunch celebration. So much photo opportunities here!

Ok, enough photos already...let's check out the FOOD. The Ala carte menu is rather simple, just a list of local SG delights with inflated prices. There are hawker fares, local western fares and some snacks and small bites for sharing. Kids meals and pizzas are also available here.

We ordered some of the most popular items recommended by reviewers. Two mains (Pork Cutlet Curry Rice $18++ & Ter Kar Beehoon $15++), one appetizer (Battered Otah Sticks $13++) and drinks (Cheng Tng $7++ & Chin Chow Longan $6++).

The main dishes aren't cheap but they came in generous serving size, there were two thick slabs of pork cutlets (similar to pork katsu from Jap eatery), and the beehoon dish was large enough for two pax. Both dishes were delicious. The otah sticks were yummy too, crispy and fragrant...super addictive to munch on!

The Cheng Tng and Chin Chow drinks were served in huge Sugarcane drink mugs. Loaded with ingredients equivalent to about two bowls of similar desserts found in hawker centers, these refreshing dessert-drinks are highly recommended.

We thoroughly enjoyed dining at Jubilee, the nostalgic ambiance and 60s-70s retro music, the good food and warm service. But due to its ulu location, we can only recommend this place for folks who drive or stay in the extreme east or northeast area. There's only one bus service running along the main road and it's not near to any MRT stations!
