Mauritius Day 2, 4 & 6 - LUX* Le Morne resort

Day 2, 4, 6 was spent lazing at the hotel n checking out the hotel surroundings. This hotel is absolutely beautiful...just like in the brochure. The design and landscaping are all thoughtfuly implemented. Even though they have lotsa guests you still feel it at all accept at breakfast time when everyone gathers there to dine. They have one infinity pool at the lobby, two other pools with pool bars and a 600m of immaculately kept beach with fabulous turquoise lagoon. The water is crystal clear 100 marks but sand is not as perfectly white and powdery fine as Maldive's beaches..but it is definitely close. The presence of the UNESCO landmark Le Morne mountain makes the location hard to beat.

As it is located in the south west, you get to enjoy scenic sunset every single day...

Some pics of their restaurants & their food..

The Food - We were on the half board meal plan and had to pay for water every meal. We already knew that so no complains here. Food at the Main restaurant was very good, lots of selections for breakfast. For dinner we have a choice of dining at the Main restaurant or at the Nipa (Thai) or the Beach (Mediterranean) restaurant. The Main restaurant has themed buffets 3 nights per week (Bistro, Mauritian or Mediterranean buffet) and set menu on other nights. The spread for buffet was good, the desserts variety were pretty impressive. Set menu has a selection of starter, mains and dessert (4-5 choices to choose from), the menu changes everyday. We dined at the main restaurant most nights accept for two nights we made reservation to eat at the Nipa. Food at the Nipa was a couple of hits and misses, the Green curry and Tom Yum soup was very good while the Phad thai was a tad too sweet, and it was served with a slice if lemon instead of the usual lime. Thai desserts were overly sweet, I learnt the lesson and ordered ice cream for my second visit and I didn't regret it.

Service was good overall. Some staffs don't speak english too well and could lead to misunderstanding sometimes. Nevertheless, it was still one of the best service we have experienced on our travels.

Our overall experience at this hotel was very good and would return to the same hotel in a heart beat if we ever visit Le Morne again.

Mauritius Day 1

Finally my turn to go holiday...have been beoing this destination since last yr. Was doing slow planning cos hubby was unable to confirm if he can take leave. When he said ok to my proposed dates i quickly chiong to make passport online n made all the necessary trip bookings online. We flew with the only airline that has direct flight to Mauritius...Air Mauritius. They departs from Changi T1 so we also caught the Tear Drop display at the check in area....nice..

Our check was very smooth...no queues at all. After done with checking in, we went to makan breakfast at a local restaurant PappaMia  on level 2. Their nasi lemak not bad..

After BF, we enter the departure hall n look see at some DFS shops. Tried on a few time pieces at Gassan watch...already found the watch i liked but decided to wait till come back then buy. Proceeded to boarding...the flight was ok, service ok, food not bad, inflight movie sucks (mostly french and ah neh stuffs...english movies very few n not new).

took a self portrait hehehe..
After arrival we proceed to baggage claim n then followed ang moh advice changed money at Shibani Finance money changer (sorry Hazel, i nvr follow ur colleague advice cos regular visitors all using this changer, no commission bank will charge commission bo hua). Settled the $$ liao we went to look for our pre-booked driver n hop on the pte taxi. Some stuff we saw along the way..

Upon arrival, we were ushered to a couch to sit down for check-in (like Maldives, they dun make u stand at a counter to check in one). A welcome drink n cool towel is served immediately..

the hotel manager met up with us and told us we were being upgraded to an Ocean suite (the most exp room category), we were very delighted to hear that. After check in process is done, we were brought to the room   and the staff explained the room features n facilities to us before leaving us to enjoy the rest of the day till dinner time. Needless to say, the room was gorgeous...got huge bath tub overlooking the king size bed n terrace. And, the only room category that has the atas Nesspresso machine...but we din use it cos each capsule costs 100 rupees ($4) hehe..

We decided to take a break then eat dinner and leave the exploring of the resort grounds till the next day...

Dinner was at the Main restaurant as no reservation is required. Saturday, they are having a set menu...choose a starter, main and dessert from 4-5 choices. Drinks are not included in our half board meal plan, so we ordered still drinking water every nite. The set meal was pretty good...i loved my apple tart dessert :)
