Royale Suite at Venetian Macao

Our choice of hotel for the short trip to Macau is the Royale Suite at Venetian Macao. I've decided to based ourselves in the Cotai Strip cos of its location near to the airport, the ferry terminal and most of the tourist sights that we will be visiting during our stay.

There are many luxury hotel choices available in the Cotai strip area and Venetian stood out among the others as they provide free WiFi and late check out when we book directly with them via their official website. Free WiFi has became one very important factor influencing our decision as hubby and I always bring our laptops when on vacation, plus nowadays we both use smartphones so having WiFi would mean no data roaming is required during our trip. And, at the price of SGD306nett per night (early bird discount), the 70sqm Royale Suite is the most spacious room on offer that is within my budget.

Booking the room via the website is a breeze. There's two types of early bird offers, 30 days advance booking and 14 days advance booking. Booking the room one month in advance entitles us to a significant 30% off the regular rates. Some minor stuffs like adding the name of the 2nd guest can be sorted out quickly by emailing their customer service. I love their prompt and efficient response. Plus, we get to enjoy Express check in via their Key Express service, where we fill up a form and email to them before our trip, and the key cards will be ready for collection upon our arrival skipping the usual check in processes.

Armed with this form, we proceeded to the grand looking check in counter after getting off the hotel airport shuttle on day 1.

We only spent a mere 5mins at this counter and we're done. I opted to go to our room on our own w/o porter service (no need to tip!). But navigating this massive hotel proved to be overwhelming for first timers. To get to the room lobbies, we gotta walk through the casino aisle (a strategy by the hotel owner to tempt the inner gambler in everyone). Too bad, I don't have one in me. The only gripe is that I have to endure the smoke from fellow gamblers every time I get in and out of the hotel!

After about 15-20mins of busking under the sheer grandeur of this massive and opulent establishment, we finally arrived at our room..

So, lets check out the Royale suite..it has a spacious bedroom with King size bed with traditional european canopy drapes, a flat screen TV inside the wooden cupboard, electronic safe, a build in wardrobe with bath robes, disposable slippers, iron and ironing board. Very well equipped indeed.

And a separate (also spacious) living area with plush sofa, a second TV set, a work desk equipped with a fax/copier machine...wow. The bar contains two complimentary drinking water, free coffee/tea making amenities, refillable instant coffee/tea from Nescafe and Dilmah, fresh milk in the fridge for your beverages. The rest are chargeable. Check out the cute little stirrers!

The equally spacious bathroom has more to offer...luxury bath amenities, separate bath tub and shower cubicle, double basins on marble vanity top. Apart from the usual suspects, there's also complimentary comb, toothbrushes/toothpaste, nail file, electronic weighing scale etc. Its more well equipped than my own home!

As mentioned earlier, I've paid a little bit more for a view and here it is...the scenery from our room's full length glass window, the Galaxy Macau hotel and Taipa Village.
