PasarBella @Suntec City

Birthday treat by the girls and I get to pick the venue, so I chose a place that won't break the bank for them. I wanted to try out this western concept 'Foodcourt' eating place that is designed to exude a funky NYC vibe.

The space isn't very huge, it has only about a dozen stalls around and limited number of tables and chairs. While most stalls sell western food, there is also Asian food to add to the mix.

After a quick walkabout to check out the stalls, we settled on 3 stalls and ordered food from the Cajun on Wheels food truck, Rollie Ollie and Choo Choo Chicken.

We got the Seafood Platter bucket $29 from Cajun on Wheels, which includes breaded prawns, squid balls, fish fillets, spam fries and french fries. We also ordered the Salted Egg Yolk Fries $6 from the Sides menu...simply couldn't resist.

The seafood bucket was not bad, ingredients were fresh, a good choice for sharing among friends. The salted egg fries was disappointing though, no salted egg taste at all.

Sunkissed Salmon roll $16.95 from Rollie Ollie, Crab meat and avocado center with torched salmon and mentaiko mayo toppings. This was good albeit a little pricey, I would eat it again.

Lastly, we had the 8 Pieces Chicken (4 Wings, 4 Drumlets) $18 from Choo Choo Chicken, comes with potato wedges and choice of two flavors. We chose Crispy and Honey Soy flavors, they were delicious, even the potato wedges tasted yummy too.

PasarBella @Suntec does not have the same Farmers market concept as its big sister located at Bukit Timah. It is a smaller NYC style Food truck concept eating place for people looking for something different from the usual foodcourts found everywhere in SG. However, we do find the food selections a tad limited and pricey, so this place isn't for everyone looking for cheap meals, it's more for somebody wanting to try global cuisine at cheaper-than-restaurants prices.

London Fat Duck @Waterway Point

One of my fave HK Roast Meat restaurants in the Northeast, the 2nd of 3 outlets owned by Akashi group & Fei Siong. I've been patronizing this outlet ever since its opening in Q1 2016.

The dining concept is modeled after successful Chinese roast duck restaurants based in Bayswater, London, using high quality imported Irish ducks from Silver Farm, Ireland. These ducks are free roaming, grain-fed and raised in a calm environment before slaughter. It is called Wagyu of ducks due to its higher fat content in the meat, making it more juicy and tender than regular roast ducks.

The restaurant also serves HK style dim sum, noodles and congee. This casual diner is kept simple and no frills, serving affordably priced food in a quick and efficient manner, very HK indeed.

Homemade Barley $2.80++

HK Roast Meats
The must order is of course the signature London Roast Duck (Whole $48.80++, Half $26++ & Regular $16.80++). The duck has a thin and slightly crispy skin, with a thin layer of fat, and thick layer of lean meat beneath. Meat was extremely soft and tender as claimed, I was impressed. Although this isn't the best duck I've ever eaten, it sure is a very decently made roast duck. And considering its pocket friendly prices (Guan Chee at Food Republic price - Whole $48, Half $25), this will remain the main draw for local customers.

Other roast meats found here are the usual suspects, Crackling Roast Pork Belly and Honey Glazed Char Siew. Both were of good standards as well. Customers can choose to order 2 or 3 combination of the roasted delights based on their liking.

Crackling Pork Belly $12.80++

BBQ 2 Combination $14.80++

HK Dim Sum
The signature Black Pepper London Duck Buns $5.50++ are also a hit with customers here. This is also my fave Dim Sum item to order. The peppery crust was an awesome pairing to the moist savory duck meat within, thumbs up.

The other dim sum items that I liked are the Pan-fried Radish Cake $5.20++ and the Beancurd Skin Shrimp Rolls $5.20++. The rest of the items were pretty average.

Har Gow $6++

Siew Mai $5.80++

Xiao Long Bao $5.20++

Chicken Feet in Black Bean Sauce $5.20++

Steam Cheong Fun with Char Siew $5.50++

The only dim sum item I dislike is the Crispy Pandan Snow Custard Bun $5.20++, the custard filling was very watery and bland, very disappointing.

HK Noodles & Congee
I liked the HK style wanton noodles, uber springy and taste good with shrimp dumplings or roast meats. My normal practice is to order their Plain Noodles $3.50++ and pair it with Ala carte roast duck or roast meat, pure shiokness!

The HK style Ting Zai Congee $7.80++ has a fine silky smooth texture but could use a little more ingredients inside.

Shrimp Wanton Noodle $7.80++

London Fat Duck's recipe for success has been to provide no frills good quality HK style dishes at reasonable prices in an unpretentious manner. It will not be the choice venue for important celebrations but definitely a great place for regular family or friends gathering.

Dinner at Boon Tong Kee @Boon Keng

We headed to dinner at Boon Tong Kee after our visit to the Cherry Blossom exhibit at Gardens by the Bay. It's been a while since we last ate here, the restaurant is still thriving well, at 8pm we had to wait 15mins for a table in the indoor dining area with aircon.

Peanuts $2++

We quickly placed order for a sharing portion of chicken with rice for 2pax (Chicken $10++, Rice $0.60 ea.). The chicken here has maintained its standards, smooth slippery skin with jelly underneath, and juicy tender meat. Thumbs up. We loved their super fragrant chicken rice too!

Thick jelly underneath the skin

As usual, we had some Zichar dishes to go with the chicken rice meal. They do them well and many are homely style food. Our must order here is the Claypot Pork Liver $12++, it rivals the best pork liver dish, in my opinion, served at Shin Yeh, double thumbs up!

Coffee Pork Ribs $12++ and Stir fried Long beans w/ diced Beancurd & mixed Nuts $10++ were of high standards as well. Recommended.

Hubby and I had a very satisfying dinner, thoroughly enjoyed the warm and homely hospitality from the serving aunties. This place is great for hosting elderly folks for a meal or two without breaking the bank!

Dazzling Cafe MINT @Capitol Piazza

Yes, finally tried the most hyped about cafe in Capitol Pizza, about a year after its grand opening. Have heard many feedback that its way too overpriced and over-rated, but I'm still curious, so here I am to find that out myself.

I arrived just mins before its opening time and was the first to get seated in the cafe. The cafe was not busy on a mid week afternoon, great for photo taking of its pretty decor. The minty blue interiors and its custom made bunny chairs were absolutely gorgeous!

Now to check out the table setting and menu. The signature Honey thick toasts were expensive indeed, but main courses and appetizers were more reasonably priced.

I ordered Buffalo Wings $15.90++, 5pcs deep fried chicken wings tossed in hot sauce. And a Caribbean Fruit Punch w/ Calpis Sorbet $8++ for drink. Dessert to be served later, Hazelnut Chocolate Honey Toast $19.90++.

The wings were good, crispy and lightly spicy, quite a delight to munch on. The fruity ice blended drink was pretty tasty too, refreshing and not overly sweet.

The honey toast was rather huge, good for sharing among 2-3pax. The serving staffs, clad in cutesy French maid uniforms, would help to cut it into bite size morsels and present the dish nicely to patrons.

This was surprisingly delicious, the bread has crispy exterior, and little cubes within contained nutella fillings. Something I've never tried before, quite impressive!

I ended up packing 3pcs of the Buffalo wings for takeaway as there were way too much food for me to handle. Check out the lovely takeaway paper bag...

My verdict, the food and ambiance scores high marks, while the service still has room for improvement, they could smile a little bit more. Prices are steep though, especially for desserts, better to share it with more people. Dining experience here wasn't too bad for me, there's likelihood for a return visit!
