Japanese Hotpot Buffet at Danro, MOF

I noticed this new restaurant owned by MOF at Nex since early January and had been pestering my sistas to go try it out. We finally fixed a date to dine there yesterday. Dinner buffet price for Mon - Thu for Adults is $23.90++, kids below 9yrs old eats for free. You'll need to pay a couple of dollars more for weekend dining plus there is a $9.90++ charge for kids age 3 - 9yrs old. As a MOF Citizen, we get a 10% off the total bill so 4 of us only paid $25 each for the buffet.

The restaurant has an oriental style decor with bamboo lining the dining areas.

Dual soup pot

Every 2 persons gets to choose 2 types of soup, so 4 of us can choose 4 type of soups from the list of 7 kinds of soup found in different regions in Japan.

Broth choices...2 were unavailable.

For the 1st pot we chose the two Recommended soups...Akita wafu broth (cooked with pork, chicken, shrimp and assorted vege) and Nara chicken & milk broth (cooked with milk, chicken, shrimp, onion and other vege).

Akita & Nara broth

For the second pot, we picked the Hokkaido wafu miso broth (cooked with salmon, shrimp, fish balls, radish and other vege) and Shikoku chicken spicy broth (cooked with pork, chicken, shrimp, onion and other vege).

Hokkaido & Shikoku broth

I liked the Akita broth best...very wafu (和风) taste...sweet and light and gradually turns more and more flavorful after cooking various ingredients in it.

The buffet spread is huge, has wide selections of cooked and raw food. I'll let the pictures do the talking..

Ready to eat and cooked food..

Potato salad

Poached eggs

Cold soba

Fried spring rolls, wanton, lotus root etc.

Pork with beancurd skin & tori karaage

Pork rib

Vege and fried rice

Sushi

Maki

Raw food choices...

Drinks and desserts selections..

Drinks station

Soft serve Ice cream station

Dessert station

The cooked food such as sushi/maki, fried rice, crispy fried snacks (wanton, lotus roots, spring rolls, tori karaage etc.) and pork ribs were all pretty tasty.

We were too busy cooking/eating and I only managed to take pics of these raw food...most items were fresh and tasted good with the broths..no complains. I personally recommend the Akita broth & Shikoku spicy broth. The Nara broth is too milky for my taste, Hokkaido broth is not as sweet as Akita's.

Pork slices & minced salmon

Beef slices

Various dipping sauces to choose from

Last but not least, my dessert choices...yummy soft serve ice cream, jelly and papaya.

My over-decorated Soft serve ice cream

Papaya & fruit jelly

Our dining experience here was good, food quality and variety was above expectations for the price we paid. Service staffs comes regularly to clear unwanted dishes to make way for new ones. Definitely value for money!
