We cleared both customs pretty fast during off peak hours. At 11am, the coach stopped at Yong Peng for refueling while we had a quick break at the foodcourt.
We reached Melaka at about 1.20pm. It took us only 10mins to locate our hotel along the Jalan Tun Tan Cheng Lock street (a.k.a. Heeren street) using Google maps. The hotel front desk was ready for us to check in at 1.30pm, the process was smooth and we're led to our rooms within a couple of mins.

After a short rest, we explored and took pics of the hotel surroundings prior to getting our late lunch at the Jonker 88.
Jonker 88 is located on the street behind our hotel. It is famous for its Nyonya Laksa and Cendol. We had a very hearty lunch there, food was pretty good but the Cendol, not so much.
Post lunch, we went jalan jalan along Jonker street, explored the sights and sounds of Melaka town and did some shopping along the way.
- The Orangutan House buy t-shirt
- San Shu Gong buy local produce
- Taste Better buy durian puffs
We're back at the hotel at 5pm to shower and get some rest before heading out again in the evening. At 7pm, its time to check out the famous Jonker street night market.
We spent 2hrs squeezing in the crowds and snacking on and off along the way. The pasar malam was indeed happening but we didn't managed to fill our stomach with proper dinner by 9pm. It was late and the Nancy's Kitchen was already closed, so we settled our late dinner at the Far East Cafe instead. We're pleasantly surprised with the rather delish food there.
We ended our day at 10.30pm and had an early night as we need to wake up early the next day for more serious sightseeing. Good night and see ya tomorrow!
