We're back at Shin Yeh for a 2nd year in a row to have our Louhei dinner with girlfriends. This time we have a party of 6pax so we ordered a 7 course Set Dinner for 6 at $268++ that includes Yusheng as the first course.
A glance at their CNY dinner menu.
Enjoying the modern oriental ambiance while we wait for our dinner. Check out the private dinning rooms that are available for business meetings and also family celebrations.
The Bak Kwa appetizer that was served during the CNY period. Be warned that these cost $5++ per bowl and you could return them to the waiting staffs when ordering dinner if you're not willing to pay the exorbitant price. It was tasty nonetheless.
Table setup for the louhei, the long chopsticks prevent our dainty hands from getting dirty by the flying food during the tossing process, thoughtful of them.
Prosperity Salmon Yusheng, served with Norwegian salmon slices and assorted shredded veggies. Here's to a wonderful kick start to the year of the Monkey. HUAT AH!!!
We ordered two Ala carte dishes to share, on top of the set dinner. These are our must eats whenever we come to Shin Yeh. Pan-fried Pork Liver $18++ and Salted Egg Yolk Fish Skin $8++. Thumbs up.
Braised Fish Maw with Dried Seafood, a pretty decent fish maw thick soup, the conpoy bits made the soup taste sweeter.
Braised Seasonal Vegetables with ‘Bai Ling’ Fungus & Flower Mushrooms. Wait a minute, there's something amiss here. We were surprised to see abalones in the dish!
This dish was supposed to be from the pricer Menu B, Braised Whole Abalone with ‘Bai Ling’ Fungus & Seasonal Vegetables, but we decided to silently enjoy the 'mistake' as it was a nicely done dish heehee.
Steamed Sea Bass with Taiwan Black Beans, the fish was fresh and sauce was flavorful too.
Roasted Crispy Chicken, we were served half a chicken with prawn crackers. Chicken meat was moist and the skin was thin and crispy, not bad.
The mandatory carbo dish towards the end of the meal. Steamed Lotus Leaf Rice with Conpoy & Dried Seafood, rather tasty steamed rice with lotus leaf fragrance.
And the sweet ending to our louhei dinner, Chilled Mango Cream with Pomelo & Sago, refreshingly sweet and tangy, nice.
My friend brought along a CNY cake and macarons set that she won from an online contest from Delifrance. The restaurant staffs graciously served them nicely on plates for us to enjoy. Excellent service!
At the end of the dinner, we were given packets of Taiwanese rice to bring home. But we asked if we could change to the CNY Pineapple tarts instead, and they obliged. So here's the photos of both items.
We are happy that Shin Yeh has kept up its high standards with their food and service. We hope to be back for more authentic Taiwanese cuisine in the future. Cheers to another delightful dinner!
