Email correspondence with the agent was pretty smooth and responsive (their email is chinese one and the lady replies me in singlish). The tour was only confirmed 5 days before departure date.
We had 13pax on the tour group and we got a mini passenger van as our ride of the day..
Everybody was punctual and we departed from Chinatown on time.
First stop after clearing customs was a deserted chocolate shop, nobody seem keen to shop there so we moved on. The driver then brought us to our breakfast place
亚坤纯正西刀鱼丸 Restaurant Ah Koong Sdn. Bhd. We had a hearty Yong tau hu breakfast here...for more info check out my blog at
亚坤纯正西刀鱼丸 Restaurant Ah Koong Sdn. Bhd.
After breakfast, we were brought to a local products shop for shopping of local delicacies..
The shop wasn't big but I still spent RM100 buying junk food here hehehe...check them out at:
Yee Siang Confectionery

After some light weight shopping, we were expected to visit the
Herb Farm, Machu Temple and shop at Sungei Ringgit Local Product, however, the driver drove us straight to the Ostrich farm skipping the 10am itinerary. We initially was thinking it could be covered later in the day so we weren't too concern about it then.
I've been to this Ostrich farm two years ago so I didn't take as much pictures as the last time.
As usual, there is an One day old chick on display at the entrance area..
|
happy bird.. |
The non native Cassowary...was one of the highlights at the farm.
|
Cassowary |
Other birds and one monkey were kept in cages for photo taking too..

There is always a talk on Ostriches and their eggs at the sheltered area for tourists to appreciate what they are seeing at the farm. After which, everybody was encouraged to take photos standing on the ostrich eggs..
We then adjourned to the farm's cafe to have a bite of the ostrich satay...it is not bad but not thoroughly cooked!
You can check out this place at:
Desaru Ostrich Farm
EMR 15, Teluk Ramunia, Kota Tinggi, Johor, Malaysia
Entrance Fee: Adult RM 12, Child RM 8.
Open daily 10am - 6pm
Next stop, the Lobster lunch we have been waiting for...we were seated at the non aircon area, food quality was ok, serving is ample for our table of 13pax. Nothing to raved about here. Similar seafood restaurants lined the entire street, some sells lobster crackers and locally made biscuits too.
You can find them at:
新光海鲜冷气酒楼
Restoran Makanan Laut Sin Kong
Jalan Hee Seng, Kampung Sungai Rengit
Pengerang, Johor, Masai, 81600
After lunch, the driver drove us to the Desaru Fruit farm. Entrance fee wasn't covered in the tour package so I chose not to visit under the sweltering afternoon sun since I've been there before. I hanged out at the souvenir shop and drank their yummy sour sop juice while waiting for the rest to return.
I bought some old school tidbits here...fond memories from my childhood..

We were on our way again after an hour plus of waiting time...the driver dropped us off at this KIP Mart 'shopping' place. It is a huge wet market cum supermarket cum provision shops cum kopi shop cum pasar malam type carts cum fastfood joint all under one roof...I'm not a domestic goddess thus I'm totally unable to appreciate the 'shopping' here :(

Kaya balls...nice! |
|
Mary Brown |
We took some photos and settled at Mary Brown for a drink to kill time...we realized that the 10am itinerary is confirmed skipped. We asked the driver about it but his reply was a standard 'my boss never told me, I just follow instructions only'. Duh...

When everyone finally assembled, we took a 5min ride to our dinner location for our 'seafood' dinner. This place has aircon but food serving is disappointingly small...imagine a medium size tze char dish serving a huge group of 13 adults! Everybody was staring at the uninspiring spread for a whole 10mins before somebody started digging in..
|
wild boar meat...not bad |
|
this one quite crispy.. |
|
boring spread...the soup is tasteless btw |
The only seafood found in the spread was the tiny weeny prawns and the steam fish...I find the roast chicken quite nice though...
This place has not bad reviews on the web...do check them out at:

After dinner, we proceeded to the Kota Tinggi river on foot to board the boat for the firefly cruise...the cruise lasted about 45mins.
The moon was too bright when we visited...we didn't see a lot of them but some mangrove trees do looked like x'mas trees with blinking lights when we passed by. Fireflies are very hard to capture...I've only managed one useful shot with the help from my FB camera group's recommended settings..
|
streaks of lights.. |
We saw some swallows and their birdnests under a bridge too...some successful low light shots of them..
|
close up shot of birdnest |
The cruise was the last in the itinerary, we were brought back to SG after the long day...some pics of my loots...my 最大收获 of the day :)
I wouldn't go on a tour with such a small agency anymore...they are less known and less pple travel with them thus we get the less comfy transport and lesser quality food during the trip..and they are not exactly dirt cheap either...not worth it!
