Farewell Dinner at Chef d Table

Chef d Table had announced on their FB page that they will cease operation on 11 June. Thus the evil sista gang made plans to visit it for one last time to savor their delicious food and dessert. We made reservation via Chope and got allocated a table in their private room.

They have a different menu with many dishes we haven't seen before on our previous visit. Even the set meal has been updated.

Complimentary warm bread was served right after we placed orders. We love eating this with the homemade olive spread.

Instead of having the set meal, we each ordered an individual appetizer, main course and a dessert.

My Salted Egg Scallops w/ Apple Glaze $20++, served with grilled asparagus. This is a chinese fusion dish with french style plating. The scallops were coated with salted egg batter together with a slice of apple, a perfect combination of sweet and savory flavors in a single morsel...nice!

Two of my sistas had Baked Escargots w/ Garlic Herb Butter $18++. These were too buttery for my liking though, but no complains from two of them.

Duck Liver w/ Grilled Apple & Brandied Prunes $24++, I didn't get to taste this dish but my sista was pretty happy with it.

Wild Mushroom Soup w/ Parmesan Crisp $12++, no complains for this soup either.

For main course, I had the Salmon Fillet w/ Foie Gras $38++, which was fabulous. The salmon fillet was cooked just right, meat was tender and juicy while skin was slightly crispy. Pan seared foie gras cubes were done well too, creamy and aromatic.

Other main courses we've ordered were...

Grilled Beef Loin w/ Red Wine Jus $28++, Chicken en Croute w/ Velouté Mozzarella $26++ and Braised Pork Ribs w/ Black Pepper sauce & Butter rice $28++.

I didn't taste any of these but none of the dishes has any complains so I reckon they were good.

Last but not least, dessert time. All 5 of us ordered the same one, Valrhona Chocolate Fondant (Lava cake) w/ Vanilla ice cream $16++.

We were quite disappointed with the amateurish execution of this dessert. Such a huge difference from the ones we had previously. The cake was punctured with molten chocolate already oozing out onto the plate. Overall plating was also lackluster...bummer.

Whatever it is, this was our last visit to this eatery, good or bad doesn't really matter anymore. Most importantly, we still had a blast catching up over dinner. Till the next time...ciao!
