Breathtaking views from cable car |
From our hotel, we took a short stroll along the river to the Cable Car station, bought a one-way ticket to Furi station. After alighting at Furi, we explored the countryside for a while (dotted with quaint cottages & black nose sheep!) before heading down the well marked walking path to Zum See hamlet.

The walk from Furi to Zum See is about 20-30mins depending on your speed, and how often you stop for photos taking. We were stopping every 3-5mins so we took quite a while to get there...

Housed in 350yr old traditional Valais styled houses, the restaurant seats 75pax indoors and 120pax outdoors, but nobody sits indoors with a beautiful weather like this.
Rustic and charming table settings, and the menus.
This family run eatery serves up traditional Swiss cuisine and Mediterranean dishes. They also offer a seasonal list of fine wines from Swiss and neighbor regions. Hot food is served from 12-5pm daily.
We arrived at the Zum See after 2pm and was lucky to get seated immediately at this bustling restaurant. After looking through the menu, hubby and I both ordered their homemade pasta dishes. I had the Spicy Noodles w/ Chicken, Soy Sauce & Vegetables CHF27.
The pasta was fantastic! The sauce is distinctively Chinese, not really spicy as described but not simply cooked with soy sauce either. They've added Chinese sesame oil in the soy sauce that brought it to a different level. The tender chunks of chicken breast and fresh veggies were perfectly executed as well. Thumbs up!
Hubby's Noodles w/ Prawns, Zucchini, Tomatoes & Basil CHF28. This was also expertly prepared with fresh succulent prawn meat, crunchy zucchini and well flavored tomato sauce.
We also ordered beverages and dessert to complete our meal. Their Homemade ice cream is pretty awesome too! Slurp...
Choice of 5 flavors (Choc, Vanilla, Strawberry, Coffee & Cinnamon), first scoop CHF4, additional scoops at CHF3 each. We had 3 scoops at CHF10 (Choc, Strawberry & Coffee).
Orange juice CHF4.80 and Cappuccino CHF4.80, pretty average.
Our dining experience at Zum See restaurant is nothing short of incredible, food and services here was exceptional. Coupled with the wonderful atmosphere and stunning views of Matterhorn and the alps, this is one place not to be missed for every visitor in Zermatt.
